Her Identity

Dear Girl, I choose to write you today about your identity in Christ. Have you ever wondered why Ruth didn't want to leave her mother-in-law and her God? Or why Esther though very simple in background was clothed with favour and had the fragrance of beauty? There is a level that knowing your identity in Christ takes you to. It gives you a profound Godfidence in who you are. It comes with an assurance that you are covered. In this our day, there are different identity crisis.  You know, I once spoke to a lady who expressed her incompleteness when she doesn't have a man by her side and this made her jump into one relationship after the other. Which ruined her self esteem and scattered her awareness of self. Apparently, in every relationship she entered, she derived everything from her partner, her joy, her fulfilledness and so on and when he was not available to give them she becomes sad and demands them from him. See, dear girl, relationship is a good thing, marriage is an even

Green Savannah OBIDIENT

Maybe we could catch the sun  rising or setting Maybe we could wiggle our ears slowly to the rushing  whispers of soothing harmonic drumbeats  Maybe we could caress our puffy noses  with our shimmering tongues  Maybe we could watch a thousand children  giggle for a thousand years  Maybe we could tickle ourselves to everyday boisterous laughters Maybe we could have our dream home Maybe we could have our hearts in our mouths again Maybe we could cuddle friendly death on his arrival  As a guest in our havens. Maybe we can be innocents again Maybe can play in the rain with our hearts like children Maybe we can move in our savannah Without fear of the forward and backward Without peeping, sure to be saved from bamboos with uniforms Maybe we can have our homeland again Yet, maybe, just maybe we'll never know what incredible fate  lies with obidient , the long awaited, lost, but found messiah of the green savannah. Even in our wait, we shall remain hopeful Hopeful in the present past  H

Adéniké - Episode 6

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10 Pa Emmanuel watched as she drifted back to sleep.  She looked so frail and young, even though her eyes said otherwise. He remembered how distant and fierce her gaze was when she looked at him. It made him wonder what hell she must have gone through. Her toss on the bed brought him back from his wandering thoughts. He watched her throw her hands in the air as she squirmed. "Young lady...young lady..." He called as he tapped her gently.  Adenike woke up with a startle. Immediately, she shoved his arms away and tried to still her trembling lips. "It was just a dream dear."  As her eyes rested on him, she recognised him as the old man who had brought a tray of food to her.  "Who are you mister and what am I doing here?"   Pa Emmanuel felt uncomfortable with he

Adéniké - Episode 5

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,"declares  the LORD. Isaiah 55:8 Once again, the gallops made Adenike bump into the dirty-looking man sitting beside her.  She had been on the road for over five hours now. Irritated, she tried to move as much as she could away from him. As if that wasn't enough, the girl in front of her wouldn't stop talking. She had been chattering for two hours non stop. She was pissed. "What the heck! Does she think she is the only one here."  Just then, she imagined pulling her hair and yelling at her to keep quiet. It was such an awful journey. She just couldn't wait to get down from the disgusting bus.  The bus soon came to a halt. Adenike highlighted from the bus, unsure of her surrounding.  She was bewildered. There were people everywhere. It seemed like a small crowded village.  Just then, a woman approached her. "Aunty, I dey sell earring, fine fine one wey go fit you. Shey make I bring

Adéniké - Episode 4

"What are you doing here, Nike. It's late." David blurted out. Smiling, Nike walked into the little room and made herself comfortable on the bed.  With crossed legs and poised lips, she pointed at David. "I came to keep you company."  David looked straight at her. Although her body begged for his touch, her eyes said otherwise. He thought they looked confused and this caused him to take a step backwards.  "Nike, stop walking towards me." He snapped and shifted backwards slowly.  "What is wrong with you!".  David thought of a way out of the situation but found himself struck by her beauty.  "Oh! She looks so beautiful! Her legs are so long and attractive.  Could this be the Lord presenting pleasure to me on a platter of gold? What if this is a gift from the Lord. No wonder I have been so endeared to her." Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourse

A ROLLER COASTER? IT'S MY 23RD BIRTHDAY!!!

So, I spent over an hour just staring at my screen, I had so much to say. "How do I turn my reality into words", I thought. It's been almost a year I used my pen as some of you may have noticed, I had even put a hold to my series "Adenike" (resuming soon by the way ). It was almost foreign to me officially writing again. It wasn't a voluntary decision, although at first, I thought It was. It started with me been busy with school work, then thinking at some point that I had lost my flow of writing and then finally realising that it is the Lord who ceased my pen for a season to teach me a valuable tool that would help my writing journey. You see, as a girl who grew up as an introvert (have learnt to manage it well), I have always had an issue with vulnerability, I was the girl who had a lot going on with her but will not say a word about it and this reflected in my writing. I had issues relating my experiences, showing my flaws. Even when the Lord wanted me t

Adéniké - Episode 3.

The door to one of the rooms had been left wide open. Adenike had peered into the roomwhose curtains hung loosely at the entrance. She found two girls lay on the bed. One of them looked like she was in her late 20s. When Adenike saw the other girl, she could not look away. She looked so fragile and appeared not to be more than 8 years old. The older girl's hand roamed over the little girl's body and that disgusted Adenike.  What was she doing to the little girl? She thought. Tears filled her eyes. Adenike, dumbstruck, followed the girls that were leading her.  *** September, 2014. Citadel had its usual morning calmness but the air that morning felt different. Although three years had passed since Adenike's arrival, she still wondered if she would ever get used to the place.  Like some of the other girls, she hoped to be free someday.  She stared through the glass window frame, surprised that it was dawn. She allowed herself to enjoy the beautiful sight of the ever blossomin

My journey to truly becoming His lover. Part 1.

Most times we think we are doing all we do because we love the Lord till we take a moment to realise that 80% of what we do is for our own benefits and not christ's.  I fell into that category where I thought doing alot of activities meant that I loved the Lord and had a relationship with Him. I also fell into that category where I tried to get satisfaction from human relationship, longing for that emptiness to be filled. You know that emptiness that just wouldn't go away.  Those times when you decide to watch movies so you wouldn't notice the emptiness or the times where you just want to be with your boyfriend/girlfriend just to fill the emptiness. But, well we still get the same result, it never goes away! The journey to truly becoming a lover of Christ and deriving my satisfaction in Him wasn't a smooth road, but I'm glad I scaled through and got clarity.  "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" One time ago, I decided to d

Adéniké - Episode 2

23, March 2011. Maitama, Abuja Nigeria. The clouds were pregnant with rain. One could hear the violent whispers of the blowing wind.  Adenike lay on the bed in her massive room, still trying to get her head around her new environment. Uncle Femi had informed her after they arrived home, that one of his friends would be visiting. By the time he arrived, she was too tired and somewhat shy to meet him. She promised to greet him some other time.  She could hear uncle Femi and his friend, Ahmed, chattering heartily to each other, although she couldn't tell what the subject of their discussion was.  Eventually, she drifted off to sleep. Femi sat, facing his friend in his largely decorated living room. His master chair stood massively at an integral part of the room. A tray of Pure Heaven and two wine glasses rested on the glass stool that was between them. "Where is she?" Ahmed, asked, darting his eyes around the room.  "Over there." Femi replied, pointing to a ro

ADÉNIKÉ - EPISODE 1

15th March, 2011. Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. Adenike's puffy red eyes stared at the empty space, why was she still alive? Her body trembling, her soul searching and gripping nothing in particular. Her mind wandered. Why did the universal choose her...why? She thought, as tears flowed down her eyes.  She had heard stories about grieving but she never thought it would be this painful. She laid there on her little bed reminiscing on what had happened that morning. “Adenike”, Maami shouted for her that morning. “Ma! I’m coming, let me quickly pluck out these green leaves, for the èfóriro soup”. she answered back. The farm was few metres away from the little hut, in which she and mama stayed.  Their farm wasn’t the best in Ife but the little they had was enough for her.  She plucked the green leaves for the èfóriro soup she was looking forward to preparing.  Satisfied with the quantity of green leaves she had plucked.  she walked back to their little hut humming, enjoying the sound of bi
